THE RELATIONSHIP CAME FIRST
2014 → 2015 → 2019
Jørgen first travelled with me in 2014 as part of a student group from Aarhus. The following year, he asked the agency if I could lead their group again.
Four years later, he returned — this time with friends.
The third journey felt different. We were no longer starting from zero. There was already trust, history and an understanding of how we liked to travel together.
SACRED VRINDAVAN
A place introduced through people, not a checklist.

In Vrindavan, a local uncle ji and aunty ji I knew joined us for the morning parikrama and helped us move through the sacred landscape in a more personal way.
We also visited Raman Reti and a large gaushala. What mattered was not simply seeing more places; it was having people around us who already had a relationship with the place.
The route was planned — but some of the meaning came from who we met along the way.

BETWEEN THE HEADLINE SIGHTS
The Taj Mahal was part of the journey. So were the moments with no famous name.

Near Agra
A village visit and time with local families.

Unexpected India
A wedding celebration became part of the story.

Shekhawati
Painted havelis, old streets and a slower Rajasthan.
Good private travel is not about avoiding the famous places.
It is about making sure they do not crowd out everything around them.

BRINGING THE JOURNEY HOME
One of the most personal stops was my own school in Shekhawati.
Shekhawati - Rajasthan is my hometown. Taking the group there meant moving beyond places I knew professionally and into a part of my own life.
We visited the school I had attended, spent time with the children and staff, and the group donated small bicycles to children.
No catalogue could have produced that exact day. It happened because the journey had become personal.

JOURNEY'S EDGE
Then the road ran west.
After Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, the journey ended with a night out in the desert — simple, open and far removed from the usual hotel routine.

WHAT STAYED AFTER THE TRIP
The strongest review was an invitation.
After the journey, Jørgen and the group invited me to Denmark and paid for my flight. I was 26.
For years I had been helping international travellers experience my country. Suddenly I was the one being welcomed into theirs.
I am still good friends with Jørgen and other travellers from the group today.
Travel companies often talk about repeat business. I remember the relationship.
WHY THIS STORY MATTERS
A private journey should be difficult to copy.
The route itself can be copied: Vrindavan, Agra, Jaipur, Mandawa, Churu, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
What cannot be copied so easily are the relationships, the local introductions, the personal places and the trust built across several journeys.
That is the kind of travel I want Anagh Routes to create.
